What Cara Ate #2 - May 201601:08
WARNING: this post contains a lot of cake pictures, so if you're hungry and have a sweet tooth you might want to look away now. You all seemed to really like my last "What Cara Ate" post that I did a few months ago now so I thought I'd do another installment! A few weeks ago me and mum went on a day trip to London on one of her days off work which involved lots of shopping, exploring and yes - eating. After years of meaning to, I finally got to try Hummingbird Bakery's famous (and beautiful) rainbow cake which totally lived up to the hype - and it matched my outfit. We have a winner, folks. We also went to Yo! Sushi for the first time in ages; if you're not from the UK, Yo! Sushi is a Japanese dish where your food can either be ordered or picked off a conveyor belt which is super fun. I had the cucumber rolls, spicy chicken ISO rolls and the crispy pepper squid which was THE. BOMB. Possibly my best recent purchase has been Deliciously Ella's latest "Every Day" cookbook which contains an abundance of super healthy and totally delicious plant based recipes; I made the black bean burgers a few weeks ago and they were delicious! I don't like including too many chains in these posts but I have to give snaps to Leon for being my go-to food destination when I'm in London alone and need a fast but healthy lunch. I really recommend their quinoa superfood salad (pictured above with chicken) as well as their Clean Green Shake - one of my favourites around!
Harrods may be known for it's upmarket shopping, amazing food hall and decadent interiors but they also have some amazing places to pop in for a special culinary treat. I visited the Godiva Chocolate Cafe when I was last there and it's just as incredible as it sounds - pages on pages of ever indulgent chocolate related dessert you could dream of. I had the Belgian chocolate brownie which came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and it was honestly enough to make a girl swoon; 10/10 would eat again multiple times. On the subject of cake, I recently also tried this vanilla cheesecake during a meal out to Pizza Express with my best friends. I wasn't expecting anything special to be honest but it was DELICIOUS, definitely worth having even if you're full from your pizza! The fourth and final cake in this post (I'm not obsessed I swear) is from the Coach House Restaurant at the stunning Hatfield House, a stately home and its gardens which is very close to where I live in Hertfordshire. They had an amazing range of baked goodies but this vanilla cupcake was just too cute not to choose; and just as tasty as it looks. Last but not least, what would one of my foodie posts be without some sort of cookies-and-cream related concoction? I mentioned relish in my last "What Cara Ate" post but they needed another mention because on my last visit I was reunited with their gorgeous Oreo milkshake aka my favourite thing in the entire world. It honestly rivals Byron; and that's saying something. Also can we discuss how cute and meta the presentation is? Obsessed.
Where did you eat this month? What's your favourite dish pictured? Let me know!
