floral bomber jacket - vintage
Jewel midi dress - Monki
double sole creepers - Underground via eBay
I wasn't sure whether to post these photos as this outfit is quite different to my usual style but everyone loves a fashion risk right? It's getting into winter now and I feel like everywhere I go the streets are completely full of people wearing black, navy, beige, grey. This kind of upsets me - just because it's getting colder and the weather duller does not mean the bright colours and bold patterns need to be hidden away! To make a statement I decided to wear one of my bolder outfit combinations and try to beat the fashion blues. This outfit is extremely inspired by Japanese street fashion, as those ladies and gents know how to piece together a look that flawlessly marries eccentricity with style. Honestly I could spend hours trawling through Toyko Street Style websites. I'm usually super apprehensive when it comes to mixing prints together as it's very easy for it to go wrong and just look insane in the membrane. I actually quite like how these two look together though. The factors I think that you have to consider when clashing patterns is colour and scale - both these prints are a fairly similar size. Colour wise, the main background of both patterns is black which ties them together, however the contrast between the monochromatic dress and the bright paintbox shades on the jacket stops the combination being too busy. Because there's a whole party going on up top, I decided to not wear any accessories and simply wear my black platform creepers to ensure all the focus was on the prints. Hopefully you'll all like this one - it's a bit wacky but I kind of love it!
