Jean Genie.

bowler hat - ASOS
oriental print blazer - Primark
black jeans - Topshop
cut out boots - River Island
lipstick - MAC "Rebel"
Let me just get one thing straight before we continue with this post - I am not a jeans person. I think I own about three pairs, two of which are printed and with the exception of my Beetlejuice-esque ASOS pair I never wear. I think I associate jeans with my younger self as I used to spend day in day out watching Japanese cartoons in my ill fitting dark wash pair, laughing in the face of all matters of skirt-slash-dress wearing. How times have changed.

You may be wondering, given my anti-denim stance, why I decided to wear this outfit and the answer to that is: cold weather. The feeling of the first Autumn day is something that hits you with such a force that tights are simply not an option, unless you want ice lollies for legs. I decided to keep the basis of the outfit simple with a basic black-and-white jeans and tee formula, instead choosing to let the accessories do the talking. As it was pretty freezing obviously I had to wear some sort of cover up so I chose my Primarni's best oriental blazer which to me looks like a super-chic version of a kimono. I'm not a big Primark shopper but I'm super impressed at the quality of this piece, the material is extremely supple and soft and the print is vivid. Shoes wise, it had to be my chunky cut out boots which are finally broken in enough to wear without socks. Hurrah! The gold details on the boots mirrored that of the jacket, tying them together nicely. Since I bought this bowler on a whim from ASOS I feel the need to wear it with practically everything, but I think it looks pretty cool with this outfit as it just adds a nice finishing touch. Although my mum's reaction when I came downstairs wearing this was "you look like a female Boy George" - natch.

(By the way, how fantastic is my new header? It was made for me by my amazing friend Aimee who besides being an awesome writer and general queen of sass just happens to be a graphic design whizz too. It's very simple which I feel nicely contrasts the actual-mentalness of my blog's content...)

  32. Oh yes, I am super impressed by this blazer! Good ole Primark, sometimes they're quality can be a bit dodgy so I'm glad to hear it's pretty good. LOL @ your momz, mine is the same - really honest. You look uh-mazing though, nothing Boy George about this ensemble!
