Mixing Florals

blue retro printing dress - Romwe
floral boat shoes - Deena & Ozzy
blue glitter socks - Topshop
white watch - Ice watches
pink bowling bag - River Island

I like to think of the "mixing prints" trend as being the ultimate challenge of the fashion world, the blogger's Quest of the Ring if you will. Many times I have fumblingly thrown together shirts and shorts and jeans with t-shirts with a result that looks less Erdem and more Ugly Betty. However upon purchasing a pair of Deena & Ozzy boat shoes covered in, yes, a floral print the only plausible thing to pair them with seemed to be more florals. Gritting my teeth I sifted through my vast accumulation of flowery clothes (and I claim NOT to have a girly style) until I happened upon a Romwe dress that was featured in one of my first ever outfit posts on this blog. The dress is mainly sky blue with the occasional baroque inspired pattern featuring a few flowers - in colours and shades that tie in with the white, pink and navy accents in the shoes. The tight scale of the print on the shoes works with the dress as nothing is too over the top and gaudy, yet the mixing prints element is still there. *wipes sweat off brow* Finally.

In other news, I saw Les Miserables yesterday and it was absolutely wonderful. It's no secret that I've always been a huge fan of musicals and loved the movie adaption of Les Mis so when we managed to find tickets for a good price I was ecstatic. The singing was faultless, the cast was amazing and I was blown away by the production as a whole. We also managed to get a table at the Rainforest Cafe afterwards which was great - I'm a sucker for a themed restaurant. All of this softens the blow that getting my AS results today will undoubtedly be - wish me luck!

  6. I love your dress and it's not too much with the shoes! I haven't seen the film but I think I probably should even though the actual stage performance most likely tops it, I actually really like musicals. And I went to the Rainforest Cafe in America ahh I would love to go back!

    1. Thank you! The stage show definitely tops it - the quality of the singing and acting is so much better even with a smaller production x
