Spotlight On: Summer Shoes04:49
Summer has finally arrived, meaning we can finally retire the boots that have been our trusty pal for the past few months. I always notice a wider variety of shoes in the shops and online during the warmer months, probably because the weather allows us to opt for a more statement style or a colour that just would not cut it during winter. To give you a bit of inspiration, here are my picks of the best shoes to rock this summer with some tips on how to style and when to wear them.
// sunglasses - House Of Holland // "Whole Lotta Rosie" black floral headband - Crown And Glory // daisy print playsuit - Motel // Incredible gladiator sandal in black - Office //
This outfit reminds me of something you'd wear to a picnic, only a really cool picnic with glitter cupcakes and green tea. These sandals are currently not available online but there are similar styles all over the place - nothing beats a chunky shoe this year. As well as wearing it with something girly as seen above, you can pair these with a pair of denim cut offs and a crop top if you're just hanging around, or with a patterned shirt (paisley and oriental prints are so now).
// marl grey tee - H&M // white skort - Zara // mirrored aviator shades - Rayban // silver heeled sandals - Zara //
This outfit is perhaps more tailored to those who prefer a chic yet on trend look, as opposed to the slightly more out there outfits I tend to favour. I named this outfit what I did as I can totally see a city girl wearing this somewhere like New York or Milan. The skirt is fairly formal especially with the sandals but the grey tee and shades tone it down a notch. These sandals are perfect for this summer as metallics are everywhere, and silver is the best way to nail the trend in a subtle way. If you're not one for wearing heels during the day, these can be worn out to dinner with a simple monochromatic dress or - if you feeling daring - another metallic piece!
// Daisy lace dress - Free People // brown wooden heels - New Look // Cosmic mini crystal triangle necklace - Regalrose //
I like to think of this look as what Tiger Lily from Peter Pan would have worn had she attended Woodstock festival, hence the title. These shoes are a real staple for summer, especially if you're the kind of girl who likes a lot of white and lace. They add a slightly more grown up notion to a flowy hippy dress or a maxi skirt, making them perfect for cool summer evenings on holiday. They would also look good during the day with a pair of frilly socks peeking out and a playsuit and hat.
